Got out on Brevoort Lake for the first time this year there is good ice in both Christenson Bay and Bodene Bay but the main lake is still not safe and nobody has been out on it. I caught a limit of Blue Gills not as big as expected but all over eight inches. Caught them on mitzi-ditzi tipped with a spike or wax worm yellow was the best color I had one and lost it to a nice fish but glow with an orange stripe was hot and so was red but yellow seemed to be best. I also caught a thirty two inch Pike he ignored my tip-up next to the shack with a Walleye minnow on it and instead bit on my Gill line 4lb test and a super ultra-light rod hooked him right in the center of his upper lip and after throwing my heater and a couple other things out of the pop-up shanty I was able to get the gaff in him the third time I got him to the hole. Walleye and Pike fishing has been good on Christenson Bay mostly on tip-ups but some are jigging spoons tipped with minnows. Silver, Copper and chartruese/green are the hot colors. Be very cautious on the ice as you can not tell where the good ice ends and thin ice starts at the mouth of the bays.
Cabin is available and I'm building fishing shanty that will go with rental.
